As a result of our success recruiting and training teachers through School Direct and as a Maths Hub School and Institute of Physics Link School, we have worked with the Department for Education to establish a subject specific School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) for Maths and Physics (NMAPS).
NMAPS represents a partnership between the state and independent sectors offering a wealth of experience and tremendous opportunities to train to teach in a wide range of contexts.
Our SCITT is part of the Wycombe High School Academies Trust which has, at its heart, Wycombe High School, an outstanding girls grammar based in High Wycombe.
Our passion for STEM subjects and our strong connections to leading professional bodies has led to the creation of a programme which will prepare all our trainees to teach Maths or Physics in the state and independent sectors, across the 11-16 age range (although our programme will also expose trainees to some A Level teaching). NMAPS has established six geographical hubs which will centre around a cluster of state and independent schools in a local area making it easier for trainees to find a location that suits their needs, our aim is to expand this network of hubs in the longer term.
